My first Ten Things of Thankful
I decided to join Ten Things of Thankful
Now if I can figure out how to link with everyone it’ll be,
Party Time!
Before I start with my Ten – I’d like to say that I need to do this – I truly do, so one huge Thank you to all of you for starting this, keeping it going and luring me in.
Here goes….
1. For the truck driver that was driving on Old Country Road on Tuesday morning, with so many cars, behind you. Thank you for realizing that you were not able to clear the 12’ 3” overpass and had the good sense to pull over and let everyone behind go around you…whew!
2. I love our weather here in New York and because of it at lunchtime, I am now walking; it is making me feel very good. I am averaging about 3000 steps in 25 minutes.
3. A big thank you to my radio station; I listen to WFUV it is a member supported radio station out of Fordham University, each morning they have a question of the day that you need to answer with songs – they play about 4 songs at the 9:30 hour. Some of the questions are interesting and make me think. Today’s question was about Children because NYC schools were closed today. What songs would you pick that is about children or refers to children or a child?
4. I love the longer days, by the time I get home homework is done, my kids are actually playing outside (love that) they play with our neighbors’ children, ride bikes, or scooters… shoot hoops with our neighbors while I’m making dinner. I love that time of night.
5. I love my driveway, especially when I come home. I pull into the driveway and sigh I’m home.
6. Thanks to my husband for making dinner on Tuesday night I had some sauce with meatballs in the fridge defrosting, he warmed the sauce and meatballs and made spaghetti. It was so good.
7. Another thank you to hubby for making learning fun; helping Amelia study for her tests, giving her the confidence she needs to do well. 96 on Social Studies and a 93 on her Science test; these are huge accomplishments for her. Awesome job!
8. Speaking of which, Ms. Amelia is really trying to read, I am so grateful that she is putting so much effort into it, her level did go up, – and she loves a Nancy Drew Book that she is borrowing from the school. Mom is happy, great job, mom sees!
9. Thank you, Nick, for putting in the Air Conditioners
10. Netflix I love you …I am obsessed with Madmen, I started watching the series about two weeks ago; I cannot stop watching – Netflix you are “da bomb!” I get to watch so many great series, Netflix Originals like “House of Cards” or older series like “Madmen” or “Downton Abby”. The movies are…meh, but the series is great. We also watch Sherlock Holmes, just this week Netflix informed us by email that the latest season of Sherlock Holmes is now available.
Yay, I did have Ten Things of Thankful!

What song would you have picked? I'm intrigued now.
YAY for drivers who are sensible. It happens occasionally, and it's lovely when it does.
Thank you Lizzi – when I first heard the question – because its was a June Morning (almost summer + children + my childhood) my songs were My name is Michael…I got a nickel, Dear Prudence and When I was a Boy! I rattle my answers as a drive to work!!! let me know what else I need to do this was fun.
Thanks again… and I'm off too many things to do today !

Welcome to the TToT! Glad you linked up? This was a great list… I soooo appreciate a considerate driver. WHat a gift… you could have been stuck all day if he pressed on! Love SHerlock… and I agree about that particular time of day… its full of the relief of being home, everyone relaxing and doing what they want, getting ready for the big winding down for the night…
Welcome! Welcome! So glad you decided to join in the fun!
I have 2 songs. "Farm" by Imagination Movers came out right after we moved to the farm. It was on the radio all the time, and we'd sing at the top of our lungs and dance all around. The other is Cat's in the Cradle". By Harry Chapin. It always reminds me to make sure I stop and take time to play with and get to know my kids when they are young. Waiting for them to grow and I have the time is too late.
I love the Lennon song "Beautiful Boy" he wrote for his son Sean, and even though I'm not a fan of country music, the lyrics to "I Hope You Dance" give me an estrogen fueled cry every time. I feel just like you – so happy to be home when I pull in my driveway at the end of the day. Bonus when Hubby cooks dinner! Have a wonderful week – looking forward to reading your ten things next week. PS I'm fairly new here too, and it's been a great exercise for me. I also don't know what the Secret Book of Rules says or who the Seven Guard Virgins are, so don't feel bad.
Welcome to the TToT! See, once you start, sometimes it's hard to STOP at ten things. Sounds like you had a nice week, sliding from end of school year towards summer. Love the contest on your NPR station. Now you've got me thinking! Have a great week, and I hope you'll join us again next weekend!

thank you it was just a matter of time… psst here's the secret I am one of those people that is always waiting for the shoe to drop, so I truly need this as we all do …love it when songs has a good memory attached to it…I bet if you play that song now they all start dancing and singing…have a lovely week!!!! 🙂
Thank you for stopping by I call it the children's hour one of my favorite time of day…I also love 4 AM and 5 AM – 4 Am because it is still and quiet..and 5 AM because the birds start to wake LOL – everyone in my family can't wait to start watching Sherlock perhaps tonight have a lovely week – 🙂
Welcome, welcome with your fantastic list! I especially love the thankful for the driveway. One of my favorite things in the world is coming home, so I get it. I really do.
So happy you joined us! Hope to see you next week, too.
As for a song, I'd pick "Kindergarten Wall" by John McCutcheon.
I do love pulling into my driveway and since the kids were home with us I have recited Home Sweet Home every time we pulled in; now they do do it too! thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for coming over; Wow I think I started a trend …everyone had some really great song choices…. have a wonderful week. 🙂
Great post, Marisa! I enjoyed reading all about the things to be thankful for and everyone should sit down every week, perhaps and do the same. Being grateful is great!
